One Day by Chukairi One Day by Chukairi
Dozen people came to play,
One heart lingered and stayed.
Heads in illusive motion,
One mind saw a notion.

"Hold on tight"
Don't lose the fight,
"Will you go?"
There will be no tomorrow

For me.

Hands of warmth,
May built a hearth,
It takes one hope,
to start the loop.

"To be with you"
In whatever you do.
"You can't."
You can’t even find

Me.

Lost in dozens of bugs,
Lost in the ocean of rugs.
Worry in guilt,
Mind, body, stood still.

"Please, please don’t go."
My heart is in unknown.
"You'll understand"
One day you'll stand

On your own.

Stood without a clue,
Must start over new.
Memories will stay though...

...Even if you weren't mine...

to hold.

This one is really close to my heart. I drew it for this poem. I was walking one day at school, and one of the lines from this poem I wrote popped into my head. I looked for the poem, and when I found it I still felt the same way about this poem when I wrote it about three years ago.

At the same time when I started to work on this art it was around 9/11. When I read the poem after I was done with the sketch, I felt like the victims of 9/11 can also relate to this art work.

I want to tell a little about the poem here. It's that when something's gone, it doesn't necessarily means they are gone forever. There's always a part of them here with you. And although the pain of them leaving is hard, the courage to start over without them is harder. But "one day you'll stand on your own."

This is beautiful.  The colors, the movement, the lines, the expression...  it's all so meaningful.  I love how the necklace shines in the light, and how she stands alone, on a muted background,in her sorrow.  The poem fits so well, and conveys the feeling in the painting so well, with such simple words.
Thank you for sharing.

This is lovely work......really very evocative, tasteful and restrained. Its lovely to see someone understand that minimal use of colour can be powerful, and add to its impact. The facial expression and body language are also very well executed. Im impressed and that doesnt happen very often :)

I knew something strong lingered behind this before I clicked on it...
Good thing I'll never stand alone, because (and this might sound cheesy) I got my father on my side.
And he's there for eternity. I only think of my use as serving him, so I guess I won't have to live through those things.
But that doesn't mean I won't feel them from those that do.
And I will try to stand amongst them, as to show...
You're never really alone.
There is always someone, somewhere.
There is always hope.
(Thanks for this piece of art. May it do wonders to the visitors.)

very touching, you might be proud of what you've done here.
Regarding that "loss of something", I think that it might been a memory of someone I loved so much, but I couldn't find the accurate words to tell her my feelings.
I also told something related to it in my latest artwork, so I'm inviting you to take a look to my gallery (at your own will...)

Well done. Design is heartfelt, not overly drawn out, and I can sense a certain level of effort and thought put into it, even before reading the "About the Art."

Yes, the grief from the loss of a loved one or something precious to you leaves a deep hurt in your heart. You must walk your journey of grief till that precious memory is safely assigned a special place in your heart and memory and you are able to pick up life again and even risk loving once again. You 'understand that day' that you can once again 'stand on your own'. The grieving process has done its healing and you can 'start over anew'. Memories will stay though' and you'll be all the maturer for them, 'even though you can't have and hold' that one so precious.
Thank you for the deep and lovely poem and the art that is from that special place in your heart and memory. Pastor Bill.
